In Becket, how did the friends (the King and Becket) part ways?

Becket and the King were very close friends, sadly, the King believed "everyone" needed to uphold his kingdom first, without compromise. On the other hand, Becket believed that one must advance the Kingdom of God over the King's kingdom.
