Who is Papa Juan in Bad Influence by Judith Ortiz Cofer?

Papa Juan is Rita's papa, or grandfather. He is eccentric, intuitive, and very perceptive of the things going on around him. At first, Rita simply believes him to be crazy, but over the course of the summer, she comes to appreciate the unique and loving man he is.
