Delilah is a woman who becomes involved with Samson. She is offered money be the Philistines in exchange for finding out how the source of Samson's strength, so that they can humiliate and kill him. Delilah agrees but has a difficult time getting Samson to reveal the truth of his secret. When he finally breaks down and tells her, Delilah arranges it so the Philistines can shave his hair, rendering Samson as helpless as a baby. She collects her money.

The author suggests that Delilah must have been an extremely beautiful woman to have accomplished the task set before her. The Bible says that Samson loved her, but we have no idea how she really felt about him. From her actions, we can infer that the money was more imprtant than the man. Higgs also admits to wondering if Delilah was present at the temple on the day the men dragged Samson in. If so, she would have died along with everyone else there.
