Love Inspired Art is the main theme of the book. The two writers of novel, Marito and Pedro Camacho, are considered artists. Their lives and work are shaped by love. Marito's life is outlined in greater detail than Pedro's; he is a young man going through the motions of life without being thoroughly committed to anything. He dates, he goes to school and work and spends time with his family. He claims a passion for writing, but the passion is second guessed every time he receives a negative criticism about his work. With the exception of one friend, Marito doesn't share his interest in writing with his peers. Marito barely describes writing as an art form or something to really aspire to until he meets Aunt Julia.
