A recurring idea pf part one of Art and Fear is learning how to "find your work." This phrase may initially seem confusing. How could one fail to find one's work? The artist is wherever she is doing her work because she is the one doing her work and must therefore be present. However, the authors are after something deeper; they mean that the artist must be able to find her work despite the restrictions placed upon her by reality and society, not to mention the barriers her own fears place on her.
