Who is Murn from Anything Goes and what is their importance?

Murn was Barrowman's grandmother. She is described as a feisty woman, who was always ready to dispense some Scottish homespun wisdom. Murn accompanied the family when they moved to the United States, but she had difficulty adjusting to a new country so late in life. She died in the mid 1980s after suffering a stroke.
