One major theme is the novel is appearances..... or more specifically the way one is percieved, often incorrectly. The way Darcy sees Elizabeth fluctuates over the course of the novel.... she isn't pretty enough, she isn't wealthy enough, she's too independent, and finally..... she seems to be almost perfect.
