What is the theme in Along Came a Spider by James Patterson?

One major theme in the novel, Along Came a Spider, is that of trust. Over the course of the novel, trustworthiness becomes a major consideration. Children who display trust are kidnapped, parents display trust in the police force.... without that trust they would lose all hope, not to mention, the trust put in more than one character that is unearned and undeserved.
