Mrs. Curren in the novel's narrator. She has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. In response to the diagnosis, Mrs Curren writes a letter to her daughter, in which, she shares her history, her feelings about the South African government, and her ideas for ending the atrocities she feels that she has been complacent in.
