One metaphor of the Fables can be found in the story of the tortoise and the hare. The hare representing youthful exhuberance..... and the turtle the slow pace of the elderly. In the story's conclusion, we are quick to learn that the exhubernace of youth in sorely lacking in contrast to the wisdom of the aged.
