What causes Huck's appreciation of life on the raft?

On the raft, Huck is free from lawand societal expectations. He sees the raft as his own private kingdom, where he can do as he pleases and the constraints of society do not exist. He can simply be 'Huck' and Jim can simply be 'Jim'.
