Davos Seaworth from A Storm of Swords becomes Stannis' Hand. He has a decided dislike for Melissande and even plots to have her killed. His attempt fails and he spends some time in Stannis's dungeons. Stannis's daughter, Shireen likes Davos, though, as he's one of the only visitors that she's allowed to speak and interact with. He makes her a toy boat.
