Morality is a recurring idea in the book. Spenser is a man with strong morals. Spenser believes that all people have a right to safety. Spenser believes that women should be treated equal to men. Spenser believes that commitment means being totally honest with one's partner. Although Spenser lives his life according to his own rules, he does not stray from his beliefs.
