Burke uses a variety of methods to prove his various assertions and theories. He may quote a passage from Virgil or Milton to demonstrate the power of words; or provide anecdotal scientific or anthropological evidence; or provide an analogy that would provide a concrete example and clarity of the abstract notions being discussed for an otherwise confused reader; or, Burke may provide his own testimony, his own experience as a human being. In this way, he is appealing to a wide an audience as possible.
