Howard Zinn (1922 -2010) is the author of "A People's History of the United States." Zinn was a historian, academic, author, social activist, playwright, and professor of political science. Zinn, author of more than 20 books, wrote about many topics including the history of labor unions in the U.S., the Civil Rights Movement, and anti-war protests.

In writing "A People's History of the United States," Zinn declares that the work is biased in that no history is complete, that many things are left out so as not to show disrespect to certain governments. Zinn does not apologize for this but instead states that he has presented the best possible abbreviated history to inform and to make people aware of the battle for equality.
