Ivy is Niel's arch rival. Niel doesn't like Ivy because he has a blatant disregard for people, rules, and property. This is illustrated when he comes onto the Forrester's property with a gun, even though he knows that there is a no hunting rule there. Later, he helps Niel into the house only because he wants to look inside and sit in the fancy furniture. It becomes apparent that Ivy is bent on destroying the family in any way possible. After the Forresters lose their money, he continues to undermine them at every possible turn.
