What is the theme in A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry?

I think that family both in blood and not in blood is a theme in this story. Dina's family was ripped away from her when she lost her husband in a traffic accident. Two peasants Ishvar and his nephew Om become unlikely family members to Dina as they try to make a living in the city.
