In Helen Keller's autobiography, what is the meaning of - 'They always sent for me when there was company, and when the guests said goodbye, I waved my hand to them'.

this comes in earlier chapters when she narrates her parent's efforts to overcome her disability.

Helen was never hidden away. The family always included her in gatherings.
