Question: Education

What does John mean when he uses the metaphor "the man dreams cathedrals, not clapboard meeting houses"? in the crucible

In Education | Asked by ally

Cathedrals are beautiful and very decorated buildings, whereas clapboard meeting houses were very simple. He was saying that the man he is talking about wanted something very facy, but he got something very simple.

Not quite: he means the man has aspirations that are wildly unrealistic.
