Lycidas is a memorial written as a memorial for King Edward, who was also once a classmate. It speaks the the King's death, his burial, and his immortality..... the need for a Christian burial. Milton also addresses his own mortality in the text, as well as the cycle of life, in which he uses nature to allude to death and rebirth..... written with a sense of hopefulness.
