Mr. Keating believed in experiencing poetry rather than simply studying the mechanics. He wanted his boys to learn to express themselves and discover their own passions. Keating loved the romantics and he wanted his class to examine the wonders of the world. Mr. Keating was a teacher who connected with his students on many levels while remaining professional. The school used him as a scape-goat for Niel's suicide.
