the senate during the time of ceasar had much power, however when ceasar came to rule as a dictator the senators lost their power.  their jobs were life jobs so the senators were  upset.  when ceasar kept reelecting himself even after the one year term limit, the senators felt something must be done to stop ceasar from gaining even more power than he already took from the once powerful roman democracy. so, each of the senate members stabber ceasar
