BookRags Q&A allows users to share their knowledge with
one another. You can earn points by answering questions about topics you
understand and you can use those points to ask questions about topics you need
help with.
This is a community effort, so we need you to follow some
general guidelines to make this resource useful and enjoyable for everyone.
Please Do:
- Share your knowledge. The basis of Q&A is users
sharing their knowledge with each other. So browse through open questions
in categories that you have unique expertise in. When you find a question
you can answer, do so.
- Be clear and thorough. State your question or
answer clearly. Be thorough, stay on topic and be straightforward.
- Use appropriate grammar and punctuation. Do your
best to make your questions and answers easy to read by using appropriate
grammar and punctuation. Short sentences, and paragraphs for longer
answers are key ingredients to effectively communicating your ideas (and
ultimately being chosen as the best answer!).
- Cite your sources. How do you know what you know?
Briefly explain why your answer is trustworthy. Did you read it in a book?
Include the book title and author. Did you find it on an official website?
Link to that site. Do you have a degree in the subject? Mention that
you’ve studied the subject in detail and indicate your specific
qualifications.
- Respect other members. As in any community, you
must respect your fellow members. Be nice to other people and keep the
community a friendly, enjoyable environment in which to participate.
- Choose the right categories for your questions.
Each question must be categorized. Select the sub-category that most
closely relates to the topic of your question. This is how other members
will find and answer it.
- Help monitor the community. If you see anything
inappropriate published on BookRags Q&A, please flag it. This will let
us know that we need to review the posting and potentially remove it.
Please Do Not:
- Do not post vulgar, lewd or otherwise offensive content.
Q&A members include people of different ages, races, ethnicities,
religious beliefs, etc. Use common sense and don’t post anything that
could be considered offensive or inappropriate to your fellow community
members.
- Do not abuse links. Don’t post unrelated links to
your personal or business website or blog. Any links that don’t direct
users to a useful resource are considered spam. If you’re truly an expert
on a specific topic and you have a related website that expands on your
answer, you may include a link to it.
- Do not try to cheat the system, or other members.
The Q&A points system is meant to reward members for their
participation and for providing useful answers. Cheating the system by
creating multiple accounts or posting irrelevant or incorrect answers to
earn points is not allowed. We reserve the right to remove your account
and/or points at any time, so if we find that you’re attempting to cheat
the system in any way, we may revoke your membership.
- Do not do or advise doing anything illegal.
BookRags is an international site and thus members are subject to the laws
of their own country, state, jurisdiction, etc. Don’t post anything that
suggests doing something that is illegal in your country, state or city.
Similarly, do not do anything that is suggested on Q&A before
verifying that it is legal in your jurisdiction. Identity theft, the
invasion of privacy, threatening others, violating trademark or copyright
laws or any other illegal activities will not be tolerated.
- Do not be mean. BookRags Q&A members come from
all walks of life and the youngest members are only 13 years old. Keep in
mind that people are posting questions in an effort to learn something.
Although you may find some questions or answers obvious or unnecessary,
they may not be obvious to the question asker due to their age,
upbringing, beliefs, etc. Be respectful and if you find something posted
that you think is useless, flag it and we will review it. Don’t respond by
posting a mean or obscene comment.
- Do not rant about or denigrate other people or
businesses. Q&A is meant to encourage people to share knowledge
and learn from one another. Not as a place to voice your opinion about how
bad or good a person or company is. Do not post personal opinions, instead
post informative, factual information.
