Library Literacy aims to encourage students to develop information literacy skills through use of the school library. Its intended use is by classroom teachers in the weekly school library sesssion. This book presents explicit skills required in the information literacy process. Through the activities presented in the book students will have the opportunity to investigate the purpose of their school library and then use the resources available to them to collect informatipn, organize it and use it in a variety of ways. This book covers a wide variety of topics ranging from beginnings of libraries, the invention of the printing press and Internet, the Dewey Decimal system, researching in the library and on the web, fiction and non-fiction and the inquiry learning process.
