Book 3, Chapter 12
Lancelot stays at Corbin for days. One night the butler, who realizes that Elaine has fallen in love with Lancelot, gets Lancelot drunk. He tells him that Guenever is waiting for him nearby.
When he wakes up in the morning, he learns that Elaine is in bed with him-she and the butler have tricked him together. He is furious and deeply wounded, believing he can no longer be the greatest knight in the world, since he is not a virgin. She is sad too, but she is so young she doesn't understand what she has done. She says she wants to have his baby, but he tells her that it wasn't his fault that he slept with her, so he cannot be responsible if she has a child.
