Book 15: Cipus
A prophet sprung from a clod of dirt taught the Etruscans to look into the future. When Cipus discovered horns on his head, he looked into the future and learned the he could be the king of Latium if he hurried. Cipus didn't want the responsibility of the job, so he hid his horns beneath a laurel wreath and spoke to the people.
He warned them that the man who would be king, a horned man, would make them all slaves unless he was driven from the city. The people looked around trying to discover whom he meant. He revealed his horns and was debarred from the city. But the senators gave him as much land as he could plow in a day, and he was happy.
