Huckleberry Finn Book Notes Summary

The boat that they stole had all sorts of things in it, including books, cigars, clothes and boots. Huck reads Jim some of the books. They are all about kings and dukes and what they do.

Jim likes the way it all sounds; it sounds high and mighty. They argue about King Solomon, and the famous biblical story about him cutting the child in half to see who the real mother was. They also argue over why French people speak the way they do and why they speak differently than Americans. Jim doesn't understand the sense in it so Huck eventually quits trying to teach him.
