As of Friday, March 16, 2007, at least 3,208 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,581 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

The AP count is 11 higher than the Defense Department's tally, last updated Friday at 10 a.m. EDT.

The British military has reported 134 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 19; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, six; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia, three; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Romania, one death each.

The latest deaths reported by the military:

_ A soldier died Thursday of injuries suffered from an explosion in Salah ad Din Province.

_ A Marine died Thursday in a non-combat related incident in Anbar Province.

_ Marine Lance Cpl. Steven M. Chavez, 20, Hondo, N.M.; died Wednesday from a non-combat incident in Anbar province; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

_ Army Spc. Adam J. Rosema, 27, Pasadena, Calif.; died Wednesday south of Baqubah of wounds suffered when an explosive detonated near his vehicle; assigned to the 215th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

_ Army Cpl. Brian L. Chevalier, 21, Athens, Ga.; died Wednesday in Mufrek, of wounds suffered when an explosive detonated near him; assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

_ Army Spc. Stephen M. Kowalczyk, 32, San Diego; killed Wednesday in Muqdadiyah by small arms fire; assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

_ Army Sgt. Robert M. Carr, 22, Warren, Ohio; died Wednesday in Baghdad of wounds suffered when an explosive detonated near his vehicle; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

_ Army Pfc. Alberto Garcia Jr., 23, Bakersfield, Calif.; died Tuesdsay in Baghdad of wounds suffered from small arms fire and an explosive; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
