Notorious B.I.G. and Frank Sinatra are mashed together for Blue Eyes Meets Bed-Stuy a mix CD made by two New York-based DJs. Biggie's rhymes are layered over beats from Sinatra, a mix made by DJ Cappel & Smitty.
The disc is the top seller at the West Village shop, Fat Beats according to manager Matt Connell who told The New York Daily News: "They're two New York icons, the classic New York guy meets the icon in hip hop. It's just a good combination."
Jon Moskowitz, a 28-year-old producer, got the idea for the mix when he heard one of DJ Cappel's tracks that featured some of Sinatra's beats.
"I wanted to showcase the best of the city," he told Daily News. "They're the essence of New York - flashy, classy and full of charisma."
Moskowitz has mashed Sinatra's "New York, New York" with Biggie's "Juicy," "Fools Rush In" with "10 Crack Commandments," "For Every Man There's A Woman" with "Nasty Boy."
Speaking of mash-ups, VIBE.com's got another revolutionary track called "Hold Ya Head" that mixes Biggie with Bob Marley. You can also check out the new Fugees track, "Take it Easy", Trina's "Here We Go" feat. Kelly Rowland, and Toni Braxton's "Trippin (That's the Way Love Works)".
We've also got videos from Lil' Kim ("Lighters Up"), Rhymfest ("Brand New" feat. Kanye West), and the trailer for the DVD of Carlito's Way Rise to Power.
