ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ Music acts that impersonate better-known performers without calling themselves "tribute" bands face fines up to $15,000 under a new state law signed by Gov. Spitzer. The "Truth in Music Advertising Law" prohibits copycat performances that attempt to cash in through false and misleading representations, such as using names and promotions similar to the original artists.
MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) _ A woman accused of serving orange juice laced with antifreeze to her now-estranged husband has been charged with attempted murder. A state Superior Court judge has ordered Karen Tubertini of Cherry Hill to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. According to court documents, Tubertini told a county detective that she tried to poison her husband to "punish him" for her problems.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ A former Louisville radio personality pleaded guilty to federal charges that he used a show to bilk listeners out of donations by falsely claiming he had terminal illnesses. The U.S. attorney said Todd Smith, who went by Todd Kelly on the air, used the thousands of dollars he collected for personal expenses including car payments, restaurant meals, limousines, vacations and alcohol.
UNION CITY, Ga. (AP) _ A man shot and killed his two young children and then himself after his wife fled from their house just south of Atlanta, authorities said. An investigator for the Fulton County medical examiner's office, said Chad Payne, 32, his 2-year-old daughter, and his 7-year-old stepson were found shot to death in their Union City home.

CHICAGO (AP) _ The prospect of hunting live game over cyberspace is dead. Gov. Blagojevich signed a new law banning so-called remote-control hunting, in which a computer user maneuvers a camera-equipped rifle, tracks an animal on-screen, and fires the weapon with the click of a mouse.
CLEVELAND (AP) _ The city of Euclid's system for electing public officials prevents blacks from getting elected to City Council and school board seats, a federal judge ruled. U.S. District Judge Kathleen O'Malley said evidence against the Cleveland suburb was overwhelming. No black person has been elected to the City Council or school board, even though the city's black population tops 30 percent.

SHELL, Wyo. (AP) _ A Civil Air Patrol plane searching for a missing teenager crashed in the Bighorn National Forest, killing the three members on board, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Investigators were trying to reach the remote crash site. The plane went down Monday evening. The teen had been found safe about an hour after the pilot's last radio contact.
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) _ Attorneys for two boys, both 13, accused of slapping girls on their bottoms at Patton Middle School filed notices they intend to sue Yamhill County, city police and the school district for the way the case was handled. The district attorney promised a full review of why the boys faced charges of felony sex abuse that were later reduced and then dismissed by a judge.
