Andy Dorman scored in the 38th minute and Matt Reis made five saves and got help from the goal post and crossbar as the New England Revolution beat the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Saturday night.
The victory extended the Revolution's unbeaten streak against the Red Bulls to six games (5-0-1). New York's last win over New England was in September 2005.
It was only the second win in seven games (2-2-3) for New England since the Revolution beat expansion FC Toronto on May 26.
Dorman, who scored last week in a 1-1 tie, scored his seventh goal by beating Red Bulls goalkeeper Jon Conway with a shot from just inside the penalty area. Steve Ralston passed to Shalrie Joseph from midfield, and Joseph quickly got the ball to Dorman.
The goal came after New York missed two great chances.
Hunter Freeman sent a crossing pass into the box in the 16th minute that New England's Jeff Larentowicz deflected. The ball went to Clint Mathis. His header from in close went off the goal post, and Reis was able to stop Mathis' shot on the rebound.
Red Bulls leading scorer Juan Pablo Angel curled a shot toward the goal in the 28th minute that bounced off the crossbar.
Angel was given a red card in the closing minute for elbowing Joseph as the two went for a ball. He will miss the Red Bulls game against D.C. United on July 22.
Conway finished with seven saves. He got the start when Ronald Wattereus was unable to play because of a sprained ankle.
