In Business Las Vegas, July 27th, 2007

The Las Vegas ethnic chambers of commerce have teamed up with MGM Mirage to hold the city's first Women of Color Conference.

The Aug. 3 event will bring together the women of Las Vegas (and a few men) to explore various issues concerning women including financial strategies, health, work/home life balance and career building.

The day-long event includes several workshops, a networking breakfast sponsored by In Business Las Vegas and an evening reception. Most workshops will be held twice so that participants can attend all of them.

The conference will be held at the Cox Pavilion at UNLV and will begin at 7:30 a.m. with registration. The event is sponsored by MGM Mirage, American Family Insurance and Nevada Power.

Tickets are $130 per person and include breakfast and lunch.

The seven workshops are sponsored by Stations Casinos. The are:

• A healthy Start: A Holistic Approach to Minding your Body and Soul, featuring self help book author Terrie M. Williams , cancer survivor and entrepreneur Tina Lewis , personal trainer Patricia Norman , Nevada Cancer Institute Special Projects Coordinator Erin West and Southern Hills Hospital Dietician Mary Svare .

• Unlocking Opportunity: Education is the Key, featuring Univision News Director Adriana Arevalo , College of Southern Nevada Chair of Business Administration Mary Williams , UNLV Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion Christine Clark , MGM Grand University Executive Director Barbara Hewitt and American Family Insurance district sales manager Julie Shroeder .

• Trailblazing New Paths: Keys to the Corner Office, a panel featuring Excalibur Hotel and Casino President Renee West , Sachi Koto Communicatios President Sachi Koto , Las Vegas Assistant Fire Chief Cherina Kleven , Communication Experts President Richelle Shaw and MGM Mirage Vice President of Corporate Diversity for Communications and Community Affairs Debra Nelson .

The event will also include a workshop called Dialogue With Sisters, a discussion about issues relevant to women of color, hosted by Mestiza Leadership International President Juana Bordas .
