It's road trip season, and Outside magazine's June issue is recommending two-week loops to get you going in various parts of the country. Here are a few of them.

In the Pacific Northwest, start in Seattle and end at Mount Rainier. In between, kayak the Dungeness Spit in Sequim, Wash., raft the Elwha River, and climb Mount Olympus. In Oregon, visit Shallon Winery near Astoria, mountain-bike through Forest Park in Portland, go sandboarding in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, and fish the Rogue River. Visit the Avenue of the Giants in the redwood forests near Eureka, climb Mount Shasta, pedal the road around Crater Lake National Park, fish the Deschutes River and kiteboard the Gorge in Hood River.

In the Southwest, start out in California, people-watching at Malibu and camping at Twenty-Nine Palms. Then check out Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, visit the Grand Canyon, see the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by horseback and go canyoneering near Moab, Utah. See the petroglyphs and ruins at Hovenweep National Monument, peek through the telescope at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz., and back in California, cool off at La Jolla Shores near San Diego and enjoy a bonfire at Corona Del Mar State Beach.

In the Rockies, from Denver, climb Longs Peak in Estes Park, and check out the beer scene at New Belgium in Fort Collins. In Wyoming, take a climbing course in Laramie, camp out and listen to country music in Lander City, trek to the Wind River Range's Midsummer Dome in Pinedale, and climb the Cathedral Traverse in Jackson. In Idaho, have a huckleberry shake at the Victor Emporium Old Fashioned Soda Fountain in Victor, take a glider ride along the Teton Pass at Driggs, and do some climbing in Castle Rocks State Park. In Utah, go mountain biking on the Mid Mountain Trail in Park City and hike the Four Lakes Basin Trail in Kamas. Visit the Dinosaur Nationa l Monument back in Colorado, go kayaking at Steamboat Springs and float Boulder Creek in an inner tube.

For details and more loops in the Northeast and Southeast, check out the magazine.
