The 44-track compilation has J. Period blending various Isley classics with verses from the likes of Nas, Ludacris, Black Thought from the Roots and Ice Cube, to name a few.
Big Daddy Kane, a legend in his own right, also jumps on the mixtape to carefully explain the importance of eternal timeless music of The Isley Brothers. “You know there probably wouldn’t be a Big Daddy Kane without the Isley Brothers,” he says. “I mean real talk, my pops was making love to Isley Brothers music, I was making love to Isley Brothers music and now my kids are going to be making love to Isley Brothers music. That’s three generations.”
In addition, J. Period recruits buzzworthy Brooklyn MC Papoose to spit alongside the vocals of Ron Isley on the exclusive “Faithful” mix. On the track, Papoose offers memorable lyrics like, “A woman’s worst weapon is her mouth/That’s why we don’t win no arguments,” and “This is my sh*t/it brings back memories/when we was close it felt like we enemies/we was good together/we had a chemistry/Her first love/I broke her virginity."
Also on the compilation is Period's aptly produced “Then You’re Gone,” featuring Black Thought and The Isley Brothers.
“If I can only flash back and undo her actions/Change what happen/And dissect a fraction/ Of time/To rewind and be recorded absent,” Black Thought spits, before Isley sings the hook, “One day you’re here and then you’re go-o-o-ne.”
