"In the Heights," the lively off-Broadway musical about Latino residents of New York's Washington Heights, will be getting a Broadway address.
The critically praised show, which features music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, plans to set up shop in a larger theater during the 2007-2008 season. The Broadway opening date and theater will be announced. It has been playing at 37 Arts, 450 W. 37th St., since January.
"Over the past six months, we have had the luxury of time to gain insight to what needs to be done to move `In the Heights' to the next step," producer Kevin McCollum said. The musical will close July 15 off-Broadway and will be retooled a bit before the Broadway transfer, the producer added.
Tickets for the remaining weeks of the off-Broadway run can be purchased through Ticketmaster, 212-307-4100, or online at http://www.ticketmaster.com. For more information, visit the Web site, http://www.intheheightsthemusical.com.
