The Regional Flood Control District and MassMedia each took home two top awards in the 11th annual Pinnacle Awards competition.
The Las Vegas Valley Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America announced its winners Nov. 1 at the Golden Nugget.
The chapter received nearly 80 entries for two divisions: Public relations programs, and tool and techniques, and three award levels are presented: Award of Merit, Award of Excellence and the Pinnacle Award.
"The Pinnacle Award stands for the work of many savvy professionals in the public relations industry who often work behind the scenes to bolster the image of clients and employers," said

at large for the awards, in a statement. "(The society) congratulates each of the winners and thanks them for continuing to raise the bar. The annual awards ceremony allows these deserving professionals to emerge from the shadows and take a bow."
Elizabeth
Trosper
of MassMedia was honored as the Principal of the Year, awarded to a practitioner who showed "exceptional leadership and professional accomplishments" the previous year.
McKinzie
Cogswell
of Faiss Foley Warren was honored as Newcomer of the Year, given to a practitioner with five years or less experience.

MassMedia Publications won the award in the special events and observances category for its work on the Mesquite Resort Association community health fair. That entry also received the Best in Show for Public Relations Programs award.

MassMedia, in the direct mailing category, for "Civic Center Corporate Park Broker Lumpy Mail."

Regional Flood Control District won for its news magazine, "Flood Control's Washington DC Connection."

- St. Rose Dominican Hospitals for its magazine, "WomensCare Magazine Spanish Edition 2006."
- UNLV Office of Information Technology for the Internet site category. The Web site also won Best in Show in Tools and Techniques.
- UNLV Foundation, in the external video category, for its annual dinner video.

Southern Nevada Water Authority for its pitch material, "Simply Beautiful."

Purdue Marion and Associates for its news release, "Republic Services ‘Driver of the Year.’"
The chapter, founded in 1975, has 150 members. Judging is by out-of-state, accredited members of the society.
