EXPERIENCE: Fed governor since March 1, 2006; professor of economics, Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago, 1999-2006; held various faculty positions at university since 1990. Member of the President Bush's Council of Economic Advisers, 2001-2003.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, applied mathematics-economics, Brown University, 1984; master's in economics, 1987, doctorate in economics, 1990, both from Harvard University.

NAME: Frederic Mishkin

AGE-BIRTH DATE: Jan. 11, 1951. Age: 56

EXPERIENCE: Fed governor since Sept. 5, 2006; professor, Columbia University, holding various positions, 1983-2006; National Bureau of Economic Research, research associate, 1980-2006; Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s center for banking research, senior fellow, 2003-2006; executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and associate economist of the Federal Open Market Committee, 1994-1997; he also has taught at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and Princeton University and has served as a consultant to the World Bank and the IMF.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in economics, 1973, doctorate in economics, 1976, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

NAME: Michael Moskow

AGE-BIRTH DATE: Jan. 7, 1938. Age: 69

EXPERIENCE: From Sept. 1, 1994, to present, president Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Moskow plans to step down Aug. 31; Northwestern University, professor, 1993-1994; appointed deputy U.S. Trade Representative in 1991; from 1969-1977, he held a number of senior positions with the U.S. government, including the Labor Department and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 1977 he moved into the private sector spending 14 years working at manufacturing, food and chemical companies. He started his career teaching economics, labor relations and management at Temple University, Lafayette College and Drexel University.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's in economics, Lafayette College, 1959; doctorate in business and applied economics, University of Pennsylvania, 1965.

NAME: Cathy Minehan

AGE-BIRTH DATE: Feb. 15, 1947. Age: 59

EXPERIENCE: President Federal Reserve Bank of Boston since July 13, 1994; Minehan plans to leave this year; first vice president at the regional bank from 1991 until she was named president; Minehan began her Fed career in 1968 at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she once worked as a bank examiner and an analyst. She rose through the ranks, at one point serving as assistant vice president overseeing data processing and eventually rising in 1987 to senior vice president in charge of funds, securities and accounts.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in political science, University of Rochester, 1968; master's degree in business administration, New York University, 1977.

NAME: Thomas Hoenig

AGE-BIRTH DATE: Sept. 6, 1946. Age: 60

EXPERIENCE: President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City since Oct. 1, 1991. Hoenig started out at the regional bank in 1973 as an economist in the banking supervision area. He was named vice president of the regional bank in 1981 and promoted to senior vice president in 1986. He also has taught economics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in economics and mathematics from Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas; master's and a doctorate in economics both from Iowa State University.

NAME: William Poole

AGE-BIRTH DATE: June 19, 1937. Age: 69

EXPERIENCE: President of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis since March 23, 1998; professor, Brown University, holding various positions since 1974; Poole began his career at the Fed's board of governors in 1964 and worked there as a senior economist from 1969-1974. He served on the faculty of The Johns Hopkins University form 1963-1969. He also was a member of President Reagan's Council of Economic Advisers from 1982-1985.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, Swarthmore College, 1959; MBA, 1963, and a doctorate in economics, 1966, both from the University of Chicago.
