9 a.m. Former New Jersey governor Thomas Kean and former Colorado senator Gary Hart will speak at a conference on terrorism at the New York University School of Law, Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square South.

10 a.m. City Council members will announce the restoration of the Vallone Scholarship outside the Queens College's Rosenthal Library, 65-30 Kissena Boulevard, in Flushing, Queens.

10 a.m. Sen. Malcolm Smith will announce Senior Appreciation Week festivities at Roy Wilkens Park, 177th Street and Baisley Boulevard, in Jamaica, Queens.

10 a.m. The opening of the Sept. 11 Healing Field flag memorial will be held at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.

Noon. Presidential candidate John Edwards will deliver a speech on counterterrorism at Pace University’s Michael Schimmel Center, 1 Pace Place at Gold and Spruce streets.

Noon. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. will host a Sept. 11 memorial service at 851 Grand Concourse in the Bronx.

1 p.m. Elected officials will announce plans for a National Day of Prayer supporting Mexican civil rights advocate Elvira Arellano on the City Hall steps.

1 p.m. CIA Director Michael Hayden will speak at the Council of Foreign Relations, 58 E. 68th Street.

2 p.m. Council members will highlight the plight of a church congregation that lost their lease at Fulton Park, across from 1700 Fulton Street, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

6 p.m. Nathan Winograd will sign copies of his book, "The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America" at the University Settlement Houston Street Center in Whole Foods, 273 Bowery.

8 p.m. New Yorkers for a Department of Peace will host a benefit concert at All Souls Church’s Reidy Friendship Hall, 1157 Lexington Avenue.
