Cassidy plans to team up with producer Swizz Beatz as soon as he has completed his 11 1/2 to 23-month prison term. The rapper was also convicted of possession of an instrument of crime for his role in the death of Desmond Hawkins who was killed in a shootout behind Cassidy's Philadelphia home on April 15, 2005. He has been behind bars since June 2005.

Cassidy spoke out from jail about his conviction, via his defense attorney, Fortunato Perri. "While I am pleased that I was cleared of the murder charges," he said, "my satisfaction is not long-lasting, because of the death of someone who I considered to be my friend, Des Hawkins. And while I am eager to resume my career as a recording artist, writer and performer, I am also eager to be reunited with my family, friends, and fans. I too share the important message stated in court by Des's dad, who urged all parents to love their children, and to be there for them. As the father of a young child myself, spending much time on the road and in the studio, away from home, I am relieved that I will soon be home for family and my career."

While fans wait for Cassidy's new album, his label will release the single "Cassidy (The Anthem)" on February 28. The track, previously recorded but not featured on I'm A Hustla, will also be available as a ringtone on January 31 and the digital single will be available on February 14.

"I'd like to first thank radio and all of his fans for their love and support during this time, and let everyone know that when Cassidy gets out, do not expect us to promote this situation as a cocky and violent situation, but as a blessed situation,” Swizz Beatz said. “Cass will continue to make great music, but in a positive way, educating the youth that violence is never the answer. We'll do the rest of the talking with the music."
