Each up for eight awards, 2005's biggest success stories will take the stage on February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the 48th annual awards show.
Carey, whose The Emancipation of Mimi helped her clean up at award shows in 2005, will look to continue her winning streak with nominations for Album of the Year and Best Contemporary R&B; Album. The two-time Grammy winner is also up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female R&B; Vocal Performance and Best R&B; Song for "We Belong Together;" Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "It's Like That;" and Best Traditional R&B; Vocal Performance for "Mine Again."
Legend is up for Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Best Male R&B; Vocal Performance and Best R&B; Song for "Ordinary People;" Best Traditional R&B; Vocal Performance for "Stay With You;" Best R&B; Album for Get Lifted; Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "They Say," with Kanye West and Common; and Best R&B; Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for "So High," featuring Lauryn Hill.
Three-time Grammy winner West is up for Album Of The Year (one for Late Registration and as a producer on Carey's The Emancipation Of Mimi); Record Of The Year and Best Rap Solo Performance for "Gold Digger;" Best R&B; Song with Alicia Keys for Keys' "Unbreakable;" Best Rap Album for Late Registration; Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "They Say," with Common and Legend; and Best Rap Song for "Diamonds From Sierra Leone."
The Grammy Awards will air on CBS on February 8 at 8 pm ET/PT.
