Objective

Objective: Chapter 1, "Lucky, Lucky Lou #1" Student will be given a very basic understanding of the political process of compromise, quid pro quo, and negotiating within a political party.

1) Louis Sears has achieved considerable success in his political life, although he is really not that bright or qualified. How does this happen? In order to understand the maneuvering in a political party, the class will do an exercise.

1) Divide the class into four groups A-D. Each group will represent a specific group in a fictitious small town who are involved in an effort to create affordable housing in a small town.
Group A consists of the politicians and their goal is to do what is best for the town, yet maintain their own popularity so they can be re-elected. Their power lies in the ability to vote yes or no for the proposal.
