Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the author’s background. Students will learn who the author is, where she is from, what other books she has written and what may have inspired her to write Transcendent Kingdom.

Lesson

Class Discussion: Who is the author of Trascendent Kingdom? Where does she live? How old was she when the book was published? Has the author written any other books? What inspired the author to write Transcendent Kingdom?

Small Group Activity: In small groups, have students compile a list of facts about the author. Have them include information on what inspired the book and possible themes. Have students to share their facts with the class.

Individual Activity: Choose one fact about the author that you think is most important to understand in reading the novel. Describe how you think that fact will impact the characters...
