Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Eben Cabot - This is the central character and protagonist of Desire under the Elms, the youngest son of the crusty landowner.

Abbie Putnam - This character is the much younger third wife of the elderly landowner in Desire Under The Elms.

Ephraim Cabot - In Desire under the Elms, this character is the father of three sons and is an elderly landowner.

Simeon and Peter Cabot - These characters are the sons by the landowner's first marriage in Desire Under the Elms, appearing only in the first scene of the play.
