Dioramas

Split the class into groups and assign each group a different setting from the book- i.e.: the school, the apartment, the crack house, the bank, etc. Have each group create a diorama of this setting along with a description of how this setting affected the plot of the book. Arrange these dioramas in chronological order.

Honeymoon Plans

Have the students write out a script of Paula's honeymoon as if it had happened somewhere besides the camping ground.

Children's Books

Have the students each create one page of a children's picture book version of this book. Assign each student a specific scene, and compile all the pages together.

My Movie Cast List

Have the students write out a list of main characters that would appear in a movie of their life, and a list of which actors would play those roles, just as Paula used to do...
