Objective

Students will learn the characteristics of the two genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

The literary genres of Fantasy and Science Fiction have stringent rules that apply to each based on their respective sets of defining characteristics. Identifying fantasy and science fiction elements of The Wild Robot will allow students to learn how an author can go about blending two genres into one literary work and what effect that may have on the meaning of the piece.
