Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Ill - This character is a septuagenarian who owns a shop in the town of Guellen. He got the main character pregnant and then bribed two men to lie to a judge and say that they had slept with her.

Claire - This character is in her sixties and has returned to her birthplace of Guellen as a millionaire.

Mayor - This character represents the town in rejecting the offer initially but is the leader of the town at the meeting which decides to execute one of the citizens.
