The 20 enjoyable, interactive classroom activities that are included will help your students understand the text in amusing ways. 1. Character Description

Write a physical, emotional, and relational description of two of the following characters: Jack Aubrey, Stephen Maturin, the Sultan, Ledward, Wray, van Buren, Sir Joseph, or Abdul. Add a portrait to go along with your written description.

2. Comparison

Read another book about Aubrey and Maturin by Patrick O'Brian and write a comparison and contrast between the two of them.

3. Posters

Create three posters about The Thirteen-gun Salute using a variety of media (chalk, paint, markers, watercolors, etc..)....
