THE DREAM - In this chapter, Port has a very disturbing dream and doesn't know what it means. The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the key elements of the dream and to discuss what it might mean in Port's life.

Lesson

1.) Class Activity: As a class, create a list of objects that held great significance in Port's dream. Do these objects give the dream an ominous or uplifting feeling?

2.) Class Activity: As a class, compare/contrast Port's reaction to the dream with Kit's reaction to the dream. What is the same about their reactions? What is different? Is there anything unexpected/surprising in this comparison?

3.) Class Debate: Do you think Port's dream came to him as a warning? Divide the class into two groups for a classroom debate. After 15 minutes, add another complication: Why do...
