Lesson

1) Class Discussion: What is prose? What are prose fragments? Why is the first Chapter compiled this way? Were the passages understandable? Does it give you an idea of what will follow in the rest of the book? Which parts of Chapter 1 did you find the easiest to read, and why? Which parts of Chapter 1 did you find the hardest to read, and why?

2) Writing Assignment: Take one of the harder-to-understand passages in Chapter 1 and rewrite a few paragraphs to make it easier to understand.

3) Partner Discussion: With a partner, exchange ideas about the usefulness of the prose fragments in Chapter 1. What do they reveal, if anything, about the upcoming chapters...
