The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer is a fictional narrative based upon characters and events originally developed and portrayed in the television series "Twin Peaks." The book is written by Jennifer Lynch, daughter of David Lynch, the famed filmmaker and creator of "Twin Peaks" on television and in film. In this lesson, students are introduced to the book and author and will research and discuss its source material, "Twin Peaks."

Lesson

1) Teacher Lecture: Introduce the students to the book and author. The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer was published in 1990 as cult memorabilia accompanying the acclaimed television series "Twin Peaks." Jennifer Lynch is the daughter of the director, writer, and producer of the television series and subsequent film centered on the murder of Laura Palmer, David Lynch.
